An SLP is an expert in communication who works with people of all ages to treat many types of communication and swallowing problems.


An SLP works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in babies, children, and adults.


SLPs can be found in:

- Private practices

- Physicians' offices

- Hospitals

- Schools

- Colleges and universities

- Rehabilitation centers, long-term and residential health care facilitie
